Seiten 113 - 153

The aim of this article is to provide an initial architec¬tural study of the Kušk-e Ardashir of Bozpar and to offer a first attempt at relative and absolute chronology based on the data inferred from the archi¬tectural reliefs produced by the author, presented through detailed sheets for each architectural elevation of the building. All told, we can suggest at least three chronological groupings attributable to the building’s foundation, con¬solidation works, and to reconstruction and restoration activities. The study presented here may suggest architectural — and consequently chronological —comparisons between the buildings at Bozpar and Sarvestān and for the later phases of the Kušk-e Ardashir, with building operations attributable to the occupation of the valley by Qashqāʾi tribes. The new understanding of the chronology of Sarvestān and the possible chronological comparison with the Bozpar building offer new insights on the Late Sasanian architectural tra¬dition and its legacy in the early Islamic period in Fars, a key region for the history of Persian architecture through the centuries.
